Bill Johnson’s Big Apple Restaurant, opened in 1956, was one of Arizona’s most iconic brand names. Bill Johnson and his wife, Gene, established the first Big Apple restaurant at 3757 E. Van Buren St. in Phoenix. Bill Johnson, a cowboy/radio personality and stuntman/actor, used to broadcast his radio show from inside the dining room. He would feature famous guests such as Wayne Newton, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. The last Bill Johnson's closed in 2015 after 59 years in business. This tee was inspired by the iconic neon sign.
